Jesus, bless these hands you have chosen as your tools.
Jesus, always keep us aware and in awe of our sacred mission.
Jesus, make us worthy of this great ministry we have humbly accepted.
Jesus, send us out into the world to distribute your love.


Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion assist with the distribution of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ at the Mass.

There are preparation training sessions which focus on:

  • The Ministry of Eucharist: Our Baptismal Call to Ministry

  • A Theology of Eucharist as Celebrated in the Roman Catholic Tradition

  • Rooted in scripture and the early Church, through the Second Vatican Council

  • Historical aspects of our celebration of Eucharist in practice and devotion.

  • Review of the Liturgy of the Eucharist and how our ministry as EMHC’s serve

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are commissioned to renew their mandate every three years by the Office for Divine Worship.
